Runaway Train of Thought
Ryan Balthrop
Click for Lyrics

Don't spend your time going down the track, looking back,
You'll live your life out of whack.
It's just a fact Jack, it's just a simple fact.

Sometimes I go out riding on a runaway train of thought
Give me just a minute to myself, and then I'll give you all the time that I've got.
Right now I'm sitting waiting at the station, waiting for the train.
My ticket done been bought. All I've learned sitting waiting at the station
is that you can't replace nothing with something you that you don't got.
That's why we go out riding on a..

Chorus
Runaway train of thought
give me just a minute to myself, and i'll give you all the time that I've got.
I'm on a runaway train of thought.
You never get the time back.
Don't let the train run off the track.

If we could slow down the time, we wouldn't have to go so fast
through every frame of mind. We could make these moments last.
No matter how much we rewind, we'll never get back the past.
And then we lose track of time, and we gotta step on the gas.

Chorus
Don't spend your time going down the track, looking back,
You'll live your life out of whack.
It's just a fact Jack, it's just a simple fact.
You can't replace nothing with something that you lack.
Don't spend your time going down the track, looking back,
You'll live your life out of whack.
It's just a fact Jack, it's just a simple fact.

And now I'm sitting, waiting at the station, waiting for the next brainwave to arrive.
I gotta ticket in my hand, for no amount of money- understand,
a ticket like that you cannot buy.
I just need to find a quiet place in my mind..
A place where I can rewind.

Chorus

Roll Roll Roll

A fish in the pan is greater than all the fishes in the sea.
Once you catch hold of a keeper, you set all the others free.
The one that got away, it's been told so many times.
Before it break your pole, you better cut the line.

Chorus
And roll roll roll, many miles away
roll roll roll, until you find yourself a place to stay.
You got to roll roll roll. Many miles to go.
Roll until you call it home.

Do you want to get deeper Then dig a hole.
Do you want to find love? Then lose control.
You gotta give it all away; but will it come back to you one fine day?
You'll never know until you roll.

There'll be some pleasure and some pain, that's the cost we got to pay.
The feelings in our hearts, and the thoughts in our brains.
Some will go away, and some will remain.
There's time to learn, but there ain't no way to explain.

Chorus
A fish in the pan is greater than all the fishes in the sea.
Once you catch hold of a keeper, you set all the others free.
The one that got away, it's been told so many times.
Before it break your pole, you better cut the line.

Chorus
Have you seen too many sweet things, or is it just a bunch of nothing?
What joy would it bring, to close your eyes and hear the angels sing?
You give it all way, but will it come back to you one fine day?
You just won't know until you roll.

Chorus

Leap of Faith

I knew a little boy when I was a kid, he swore that he could fly. As hard as he tried, he never did. And he never did understand why. He had an old oak tree in his backyard, he'd climb that tree so high. He spread his arms like angel wings and he kissed the ground goodbye.

Chorus
he took a leap of faith, just a leap of faith. He said heaven can't wait till the judgement day. Just a little taste, and he was on his way. And that little boy took a leap of faith.

He climbed on up to the highest limb with a trembling in his knee. His hair was blown by the mighty wind, but it was really just a summer breeze. He waved down from atop the tree, as if to say goodbye. Just then it occurred to me he's gonna make his mama cry. And we'd all gathered round to see that little boy take a fall. But when he spread his arms and flew, that little boy shocked us all.

Chorus
He fell on down and hit every limb, none of us on the ground envied him. We just stood in silence and watched him cry, the little boy that thought he could fly. He crashed at our feet, we didn't say a word. He just lay on the ground like a wounded bird. We thought he was crazy, we thought it upsurge that the boy really thought he could fly. He licked his wounds and he limped on home. We walked away and just left him alone. Some thought we should've armed him. Some thought he should've known. We all thought he was lucky he didn't break no bones.

It's an age old story, and it's one to live by. It's a measure of a man until the day he dies. no matter what you do, it's how hard you try. You gotta walk this earth with a wandering eye. And when your'e laid into the ground then you take to the skies. Like the boy that thought he could fly.

Now we're all grown up in this same old town. Every now and then I'll see him around. He got himself a girl and he settled down. The boy who thought he could fly. You ask him what he loves about her he''' say everything. She gave him her love and he gave her a ring. They lift each other up, and like birds they sing. They got the kind of high that flight can't bring. And they don't need no wings.
They gotta sweet kind of loving' with a sweet soft sound; like a bird in flight lightly touching down. Fly all around the world without leaving the ground. He's the boy that learned how to fly.

It's an age old story, and it's one to live by. It's a measure of a man until the day he dies. no matter what you do, it's how hard you try. You gotta walk this earth with a wandering eye. And when your'e laid into the ground then you take to the skies. Like the boy that learned how to fly.

The Other Side

I want to know what's on the other side. I hear it's a really good side to be on.
It won't take a second, I won't run and hide. I'll close my eyes and listen.
The other side can be so far away. We may not make it there tomorrow.
Then again, who am I to say? You may have crossed over many yesterdays.
Where every time you get a second chance. It's just your first chance all over again.
And every time you take a second try- there's rules we break and ones we try to bend.
Maybe you just got your second wind. Or maybe we just learned to listen.
To the other side.

Chorus
Listen to the other side, open up your soul and close your eyes.
Listen to the other side. you know it's gonna be alright when you see the light.

I want to know what's on the other side. I hear it's a really good side to be on.
Won't take a second, again I'll swallow my pride.
I'll open my soul and listen. The other side can be where we already are.
And if you don't like it you can go far. No one knows who's really right or wrong.
We're all just searching for a place where we belong.

Where every time you get a second chance. It's just your first chance all over again.
And every time you take a second try- there's rules we break and ones we try to bend.
Maybe you just got your second wind. Or maybe we just learned to listen.
To the other side.

Stuck in the Mud

Chorus
Stuck in the mud, stuck in a rut. been looking for love, found everything but. Lord only knows when I'll rise above. meanwhile I'll be. and she, yes we will be.. Stuck in the mud, stuck in a rut. been looking for love, found everything but. Lord only knows when I'll rise above. meanwhile I'll be. and she, yes we will be..

Can't do the math, can't find no reason. Walk the same damn path every god dang season.

Chorus
It's a damn disgrace, and it's a crying shame. Got no one else but myself to blame. It's a crying shame, it's a damn disgrace. Even when you get yourself unstuck your slinging mud all over the place. Just doing our best just to stay alive. Let's kick this thing into 4 wheel drive.

Chorus

The Reason We Love Singing the Blues
Ryan Balthrop
Click for Lyrics

Why does love have to be so possessive? I can't give you all of me, I won't take all of you.
I find myself feeling disconnected. I guess that's the reason I love singin' the blues
I guess that's the reason I love singing' the blues.

Why does this world have to be so oppressive? Why can't we all live as one, like the fortunate few.
We find ourselves feeling disconnected. I guess that's the reason we love singing' the blues

We don't know how to change the weather, even if we were all to get together
We ain't all birds of a feather, it's plain to see. It's alright with me. Let's just let it be. Just live in peace

Well I got home one Monday afternoon. Just to find out I had been broken in to.
I got home to late, or the thief left too soon. He took all my babies out my music room.
I could not believe what i'd seen. They shattered the window in my tv room and stole my flat screen.
My heart was beating loud and fast and it wouldn't stop. When I told the police man, "damn, they got my laptop"
It's just alright, it's just material things. Let's go down the road and get us some chicken wings. Maybe a cold beer.a glass of wine.
i've still got my good friends and I can still have a good time. He'll get his and I'll get mine.

We don't know how to chagne the weather, even if we were all to get together
We ain't all birds of a feather, it's plain to see. It's alright with me. Let's just let it be. Just live in peace

I guess that's the reason we love singing the blues
I guess that's the reason we love singing the blues
I guess that's the reason we love singing the blues
I guess that's the reason we love singing the blues

Nature of the Beast
Ryan Balthrop
Click for Lyrics

The beast is hidden deep within the dark. There's a beast waiting behind every man's heart.
You live half your life hoping to tame the rage. Just to realize that you just can't keep it caged.
The human heart don't gave no walls, until the beast comes crashing down from on top of his wrecking ball.

Trouble gonna fall you all your life. Every time you push the beast down, it brings it out into the light.
The beast come knocking on your front door, then he come creeping up on your back porch.
When the beast comes creeping, better give it what it's looking for, or you better change the lock on that rusty cage door.

Chorus
It'll knock a grown man right off his feet, and down to the bottom of a bottle of grief.
Begging for some mercy, you get no relief. That's just the nature of the beast

If your'e wondering where lies the beast. There's on living in you. There's on trying to kill me.
Take a look in your mirror, and tell me what  you see. If you can't keep it locked down, you better let it run free.
The human heart don't gave no walls, until the beast comes crashing down from on top of his wrecking ball.

Chorus

It's just the nature of the beast. It's just the nature of the beast
Gotta let it run free. Gotta let it run free.
It's gonna get you babe, knock you right down on your knees.
The beast done got the best of a better man, than you and me.
Let it run free. It's just the nature of the beast. Better let it run free.
The beast done got the best of a better man than you and me.

Second Hand Soul

Click for Lyrics

Woke up this morning, could not recall what it was that we did last night. Not a thing at all.
Looked over in the corner, saw my baby standing up against the wall.
I rubbed my sleepy eyes, she was standing up about ten feet tall.
She reached out her hands, all I saw was claws. She dug a hole down deep inside me,
I gave her everything, and she took it all. Even got away with my soul, and walked right out the bedroom door.
She stole my soul and sold on off to the second hand store.

What's a man to do? About lost all control. Woman done broke my heart, then she went and stole my soul.
Walked out the door and down to the second hand store. Old girl said she could take no less. I can't pay no more.
I guess it's time to go search for my soul at the second hand store. My woman took off with it, and left nothing but a great big hole.
Standing in line at the second store. My woman stole my soul, and should it the man at the second hand store.

Looking back in line, there's three more men standing behind, we all having the same bad day. Trying to find our souls.
Where's the first place your gonna go? Second hand store. My woman said she can take no less, I can't pay no more.

Silence is Golden
Ryan Balthrop
Click for Lyrics

Oh how our silence is so comfortable. There often are no words that can break it.
Don't be silly, she'd always interrupt me. Like she know my words before I'd speak them.

Chorus
Silence is golden so they say. But the quiet will not be broken when we hold our tongues at bay.
If silence is golden, please let it be today. No words would come, and now the silence wont go away.

Quietly we'd ride along that quiet island country side. An eternity wrapped up n a fifteen minute ride.
Like the trees and seas and the breeze, the conversation passed me by.
Looking back I wish I'd have tried.

Silence is golden now I see. Friends and lovers sitting quietly.

If silence is golden, please let it be. The quiet is all I have. It's all she left me.

I'm Gonna Quit You

I'm gonna quit you. I'm gonna quit you.
I gotta quit you… I gotta quit you.

It's been a long time coming around. Your sun is rising, and mine is going downs.
see your face around town, and when I sleep. I don't make promises, but there's one I hope I keep.
I'm gonna quit you.

You are the sweetest thing, the sweetest thing I never had.
You are the sweetest thing, the sweetest thing I never had.

I'll never get you.. ohh i gotta quit you.
I'ts been along time coming around. Every time I tried to put you down.
Sometimes I'm all dried up, sometimes I nearly drown. When I'm so lost, that's where you are found.
Ohh I gotta quit you. I won't forget you. But ohh I gotta quit you.

I gotta quit you. Ohh I'm gonna quit you.

Shit or get off the Pot

Granddad always told us to always finish what we start.
Over fifty years of sweet love with his true love, and never did they part.
until the winter chill when she took ill and died in the dark. And left him, left him with a broken heart.
Sometimes love is all you're missing. sometimes it's all you've got.
I guess it takes a lifetime to learn - to learn what can't be taught.
All the years they laughed and cried. Fought, forgave, forgot.
I suppose if I know a little about love, then they must have know a lot.
And all my hesitation and disapproval- is really just my refusal to do - to do what I ought.
But I'm learning that when you lose your love you gotta live with what you got.
I guess it's time to shit or get off the pot.

You know granddad was only 22 years old when he shipped out in the navy.
He got a warning in the mess hall. he didn't finish his taters and gravy.
They said boy have you lost your mind? Can't you read the sign above the buffet line.
He said "I'm just not hat hungry Cap. I got my girl back home on my mind.
She's like a Mongolian buffet. Hot and sweet and all you can eat."
The Cap said "Son don't take more than you can put away."
You know love can be just like food. Too much will make your belly ache. I
t's an all you can eat buffet. it'll give you heartburn. It'll make your heart break.
You can take all you want. But you gotta eat what you take.

I suppose If I know a little about love then they must have known a lot.
I'm learning that when you lose your love you gotta live with what you got.
All my hesitation and disapproval - is really just my refusal to do - to do what I ought.
But I'm learning that when you lose your love you gotta live with what you got.
I guess it's time to shit or get off the pot.
I'm learning that when you lose your love you've got to live with what you've got.

I guess it's time to shit or get off the pot.
